1st Day

The first day of the State Fair of Texas went well, the weather was just right and everyone had a good time.  That was yesterday and today has presented another realm of Fair going.  I woke up this morning to thunder and heard the wind pick up.  It's been raining ever since and I can just imagine, what the people working at the Fair are going through.  Not only will this cut down on the customers, but it will be miserable working in the outdoor stands that sell food, beverages or offer games to play.  Most of the visitors who go to the Fair today will run quickly to one of the buildings to browse the different displays.  The clean up crews will be working over time, keeping the water from the door areas, so people won't slip and fall.  The rides won't be running because of the danger involved.  I'm sure there will be many who choose not to go to the Fair at all because of the weather.  One of them is me and I will make plans for a later date.

Rain

Today was the second straight bout of rain for Dallas-Fort Worth, after tainfall exceeded 2 inches in many locations Tuesday – about what Dallas-Fort Worth can expect, on average, in an entire September.  he storms snapped power lines in places, and more than 11,000 scattered power outages were reported this morning, most of them in the Dallas area.  At local airports, the weather caused a few cancellations and other delays. American Airlines reported 22 flights canceled at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and Southwest Airlines had a handful of delays at Love Field.
Tropical Storm Hermine came ashore near the Texas-Mexico border Monday and took a northerly swing that carried the center of the storm over San Antonio.  The heaviest rain, up to 2 inches per hour, blew up the Interstate 35 corridor after dropping a foot of rainfall in Central Texas. By 10 a.m., some areas had seen 5 inches of rain, and showers stretched south all the way to San Antonio.

Dallas Texas

Here in "Big D", as it's called, we often find ourselves in the middle of a horrible rainstorm.  It's mind boggling at the fierceness of these storm attacks.  Three days ago, out of what seemed to be nowhere, came one of these storms, following with thunder, wind and heavy rain.  It cooled things down and we appreciated the temperatures for a few days.  It's looking as though we may develop more hot days, before this late summer is over with.  We aren't ready for a bad winter, but the ease from the heat has been nice.
