House Fire

March 2, we came home to find this starting up across the street from our home on Wood St, in Royse City, TX.  I dialed 911 and for what seem a good, 10 mins. was on the phone, screaming for them to get the FD up here........mind you it is on 3 blocks away.  By the time they finally went through the channels, the police made it here first and blocked the street.......the house is a total loss,, and also 2 vehicles.  The family was in Dallas at the time of the fire, the cat didn't make it but the dog and ferret made it out alive.  We are waiting for more info, in order to give the results of the possible reason.  This was a family of 2 adults and 1 teenager.

BARRETT MOTORS.COM

Hey, all you great people who are looking for a good place to invest in your next car/truck!  Here, it is.........easy to find, at several North Texas locations, BARRETT MOTORS!  You may need to find one with credit help, or just interested in getting quality sales and service for your bucks!
A good pre-owned car/truck, is exactly what they specialize in and you won't be disappointed!
I needed help with my credit, and you wouldn't believe the help that I was given to get me in my new pre-owned Chevy Captiva!  First of all go to their website  barrettmotors.com   and do some looking around.  You won't believe the inventory they have for you to choose from.  Be it pickup or car, they've got it and I can't stress the value of service you will receive.  I suggest calling Dario Heritage or Carlos at 972-475-1080 and having a talk about the vehicle you are interested in seeing.  Make an appointment and go by, test drive it, maybe even try more than one while your there.  They, will tell you exactly how and when you can get your vehicle financed.  Dario, was my salesman and he made every effort to get my car financed.  When it came to make that extra special effort, he referred me to his manager Carlos, to get a better deal, than he could offer.  Well, that's exactly what happened, and I am now the proud owner of my Chevy Captiva!  It comes with a 6 month limited warranty, free roadside assistance for 1 year and you won't believe the service you get from their Service Center.

As with any pre-owned car you will have some small flaws.  Believe me when I say:  The service center will take care of them for you and most of the work while in the 1st 30 days, is made to you free.  Mike Ellis, Service Mgr. and Gloria are great to work with and will get the job done fast and efficiently.  You can't go wrong with Barrett Motors!  I PROMISE!  Tell them Nita Martinez sent you.........

Feed Store/Silos

Image may contain: cloud, sky, outdoor and nature
The railroad tracks, that have run through this town for years and the building on the left was once a lumber yard.  Then there's the Feed store across from it, with the grain silos for storage, until the train cars get loaded and transported to other towns.
I borrowed this photo from Jack Palmer Photos.

Death Alley

This is just one of the many accidents, along the corridor of I-30 that's happened in the last year.

Several of the accidents were fatality involved.  Once again, a wreck involving 2 semi's and 2 other vehicles, resulted in a person losing their life and 3 going to the hospital.  It seems that the area from Rockwall, Tx at Hwy. 205 through Royse City's, CR 548, has been a death zone for several years.  Yesterday, is no different, and with the construction along this location, it seems to be escalating daily.  Two separate accidents happen in the general area yesterday, with one happening in the early morning traffic commute, and the other in the evening commute.  People traveling east on I-30 have one other road they can detour to which is CR 66, a two lane road, lending small relief.  A 35 minute normal trip, thus turns into an hour or more, with morning and evening commutes.
Below is a picture of the accident that happened yesterday, and if you look closely at the middle semi, under the back is a small car, that is totally smashed.

Wreck

The traffic started slowing down, just before I got to the exit at the Love's Truck stop, just outside of Rockwall, TX, on I-30.......

Here's is what I came upon........

The semi, was across the median, into both center lanes of traffic..........looks as though he tried to miss another vehicle and lost control.....About a hundred yards up on the right side of the road, a rock truck was parked and the driver was getting out with his log books, as though he might have been part of the accident...........

Almost Finished

Back when Walmart first opened, I was put out with the fact that the USA Murphy's gas station hadn't been built along with it.  They told me that it was coming, but they weren't sure when.

Well, it's almost finished and in a week or so, we will have the convenience of being able to get most of our shopping done here in town.  Those who drive to work every morning will be able to fill up and hit the freeway in a matter of minutes.

Deadly Tornadoes Hit North Texas

December 26, 2015, will be a horrible memory in many North Texas minds as we try to recover from last nights deadly tornadoes damage.  I live about 20 minutes for the site at I-30 & George Bush Turnpike, where the tornado's path crossed the freeway.  Seeing the video footage's that are coming into the news media's, is very surreal and scary.  This is something you always see happening somewhere else, and now it's come to our doorsteps.  Had the tornado taken a different path, I would have been in the middle of it and suffered what many are dealing with this morning.
Five have lost their lives in the Garland, TX area and 3 in other areas where the tornadoes hit.  I-30 has been reopened, but warnings are being issued to looters and passers by to stay away from the areas affected by this disaster.  They will be arrested or shot, and that's the exact statements.
Homes are destroyed along with lives in the aftermath of this deadly tornado.  People affected are just thankful to be alive and consider that the homes can be rebuilt.
Many pets have been lost or misplaced and this will cause sadness to many.  The hospital of Lakepointe in Rowlett, TX was at full capacity last night with injured from their local area.
Incoming pictures as of daylight show a large path taken by the tornado, which left death and destruction in the North Texas areas.
First responders were on the scene and many are still active as I speak.  The Red Cross is busy with it efforts and will be available to help those in need.  Shelter's were opened in the Rowlett areas and many people calling in to find a way that they could help.  Off duty police, fire and other responders were out in force helping as they were needed.
Now, is the time to assess the damages and start the cleanups necessary to build again.
Our hearts and prayers go out to those affected by last nights tornado's,  may they find peace and comfort during the trying times ahead.

It's Up

Here it is, all atop it's perch waiting for the rest of the construction to finalize.  I'm wondering what will happen to the local Royse City Pharmacy, downtown on Main St., when this store opens.  Then you also have the Walmart pharmacy to counter sales in the local buying area.  Small town for so many big name drug stores.  Time will tell how well this store fares in competition.

CVS Sign

Looks as though the new CVS store is well on it's way to completion and that's another addition to our fair town.  Royse City, TX is growing and there's no getting around it.  The new Mayor has been keeping us up to date on all the coming additions to the local area.  The small town I grew up in is now a whopping upscale busy locale.  Here you see the CVS sign being readied for lifting to it's position.

Wal Mart Still Growing

On May 27th, a large helicopter lifted the air conditioning units to be installed.  The Mayor says that the keys will be handed to the Wal Mart manager in July and the opening will probably be in October.  So ready!

Wal Mart Coming Along

It won't be long now, until the new Wal Mart will be finished and ready for us to shop in.  No more driving all the way to Rockwall, TX or Greenville, TX to shop for decent groceries.

9 Lives Gone

Sunday, May 17, 2015, Waco, TX was in the middle of a sad happening.  Several motorcycle clubs/gangs came into town with the intentions of settling a turf war which escalated to the point of total chaos.  9 were killed, and several injured which led to many arrests.
News media has made this into a "white war" between "white motorcycle gangs", which is totally farce.  The gangs/clubs involved included white's, mexican's and a few black riders.  Not one club/gang consisted totally of "white's"!  All you need to do is read the names of the one's who were arrested in the mug shots that has been released.  You will see the names denote the ethnicity's.
One of the local biker's is known by people who worked with him in year's past.  I will not name him to give respect to his family and friend's presently!
Our condolences go out to the people affected by the disaster, in Waco, TX this last Sunday.

Sleet

Yesterday brought sleet and rain to our local area.

We didn't get much in accumulation, but it was enough to close schools, and government offices.  The roads were dangerous and many wrecks occurred.  We are predicted to get snow on Wednesday evening, which could cause a few problems and give a few inches for the kids to make snowmen.
