BARRETT MOTORS.COM

Hey, all you great people who are looking for a good place to invest in your next car/truck!  Here, it is.........easy to find, at several North Texas locations, BARRETT MOTORS!  You may need to find one with credit help, or just interested in getting quality sales and service for your bucks!
A good pre-owned car/truck, is exactly what they specialize in and you won't be disappointed!
I needed help with my credit, and you wouldn't believe the help that I was given to get me in my new pre-owned Chevy Captiva!  First of all go to their website  barrettmotors.com   and do some looking around.  You won't believe the inventory they have for you to choose from.  Be it pickup or car, they've got it and I can't stress the value of service you will receive.  I suggest calling Dario Heritage or Carlos at 972-475-1080 and having a talk about the vehicle you are interested in seeing.  Make an appointment and go by, test drive it, maybe even try more than one while your there.  They, will tell you exactly how and when you can get your vehicle financed.  Dario, was my salesman and he made every effort to get my car financed.  When it came to make that extra special effort, he referred me to his manager Carlos, to get a better deal, than he could offer.  Well, that's exactly what happened, and I am now the proud owner of my Chevy Captiva!  It comes with a 6 month limited warranty, free roadside assistance for 1 year and you won't believe the service you get from their Service Center.

As with any pre-owned car you will have some small flaws.  Believe me when I say:  The service center will take care of them for you and most of the work while in the 1st 30 days, is made to you free.  Mike Ellis, Service Mgr. and Gloria are great to work with and will get the job done fast and efficiently.  You can't go wrong with Barrett Motors!  I PROMISE!  Tell them Nita Martinez sent you.........

Old Train Depot

Image may contain: sky, snow and outdoor
This is a picture provided, by Delores Ballard a resident here during this era.  I remember walking to school, and passing it every morning.  Of course it was one of the buildings that didn't hang around.  It's no longer there, just a spot where it once was.

Keller's Drive In Dallas is # 1 in Texas

I came upon an article that said the number one hamburger place in Texas was...........Keller's in Dallas, Tx.

How about that, one.............hell I've been going there for years.  I even knew several of the waitress's by name, back in the 70's and 80's.

Shirley, was the redhead, who worked for Jack Keller, many years.

It's Up

Here it is, all atop it's perch waiting for the rest of the construction to finalize.  I'm wondering what will happen to the local Royse City Pharmacy, downtown on Main St., when this store opens.  Then you also have the Walmart pharmacy to counter sales in the local buying area.  Small town for so many big name drug stores.  Time will tell how well this store fares in competition.

Down The Drain

We have been put under a water restriction because of the drought situation, and here you see water going down the drain.  Yet, our city is getting ready to hike our water bill another $12, which would bring our base bill of $63.49, up to $75.49.  This is a hard pill to swallow considering that our town already pays much higher prices from the North Texas Water District, than many other surrounding towns.  Now, what do you think the elderly and fixed income citizens are expected to do?

Cool Front

It came just like the weathermen said it would.  A cool front, bringing lower temps and some rain.  Yesterday evening around 6pm it was already 79* degrees and dropping.  This morning was welcomed with cloudy skies, showers and cool temps of 66* degrees.  At 11am it's only 68* degrees compared to the normal temps in August of mid 90's.  I can actually open the doors and windows, using only ceiling fans to circulate the air.
My fear is that the sun will come out and humidity will hit hard.  Right now, I'm enjoying the cool wetness.

Wal Mart Coming Along

It won't be long now, until the new Wal Mart will be finished and ready for us to shop in.  No more driving all the way to Rockwall, TX or Greenville, TX to shop for decent groceries.

Walmart

Buy Reviews

Coming on up as fast as the weather will let them.

Our new Walmart will be built soon and then no more driving all the was to Rockwall, TX to get decent food and good prices on other items.  Looks as though they have started on the structure walls, which is a plus.

You can see that it's cloudy, which has been the case for several weeks.  This year we have had record rain, and it's giving the drought ridden lakes much needed water.  The soil is so saturated with rain, that you squish when walking.  Staying on the sidewalk is your best option.

Progress in Royse City, TX

Looking ahead of us while taking the detour to the freeway, we can see the new bridge being developed.

As we are going down the street, we look to the right and see the excavation in full progress to build our coming Walmart and other businesses.

After standing here several years, taunting us, it finally has a real meaning.

Soon the tanks for gasoline will get installed for the "USA Murphy's"  gas stop and convenience store.  Finally some cheap gas that we won't have to drive all the way to Rockwall, TX to buy.

Me as well as the rest of the local residents are eagerly waiting for this to get build, so we can get decent groceries and other needed items at a decent price, without having to drive to other towns for these services.  It will also create new jobs for our community and give more volume to the resources of our town.

New Bridge

Just ahead you can see the new bridge we are getting built here, just west of town.

As you can see we are having trouble getting on the road, because of the road workers, shutting down one of the lanes on the freeway.....

It will connect with the old bridge at CR 548, and will give access to a street passing under it, to the other side of the road....

The extent of this road work, goes to Fate, TX as well, where I understand there may be a bridge built in this area of freeway......I'm not really sure about this information as yet!  This exit on to the freeway, has been closed for road work....so we have to go up further to get on the highway.  Just another inconvenience we are experiencing, during these months of work....I'm not sure how soon the development will be finished?

Old Greenville TX Slogan

Thanks to my daughter, I can post this picture of the street of Greenville, TX, back when I was a child.  This slogan was also on the old water tower there, and remained for many years.  How many of you remember this?
Look at the old Texaco sign, wow how many years did this signs stand?

Coming Improvements

Our Mayor has listed several businesses that will be coming to our fair city in the next few months.  It seems that along with the new bridge, we will get our long awaited WalMart, that's been in the quotes for several years.  They have finally broke ground and are getting the excavation in gear for the store and parking lot.  There's word of a CVS along with a USA Murphy's, Charlie's Hamburgers and to housing divisions coming to our fair town.  I guess Royse City, TX is going to grow some more?

Holiday's

It's been a week of events, with all the festivities that have taken place here in our town.  Now, I'm sure the decorations will be taken down in a few days, right after the New Year's.  So, with this said I am hoping that the weather will hold up as well.  It seems that the weather people are predicting some winter precipitation for the North Texas areas.  That includes my area and with the huge trees looming over my home, I don't relish freezing rain.  Last year our areas had damage because of the ice storm and trees came falling down.  This is going to be a problem if we have much ice.......
