Ground Breaking
Yesterday, we were driving down the road next to the area of land where Walmart will be built. We saw a tent erected with chairs placed under it. Today, I found that they had the official "ground breaking" ceremony for our new coming "Walmart". There was a picture on the Royse City, TX Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. Our town is growing thanks to new people on our City Council and others.

New Bridge
Just ahead you can see the new bridge we are getting built here, just west of town.
As you can see we are having trouble getting on the road, because of the road workers, shutting down one of the lanes on the freeway.....
It will connect with the old bridge at CR 548, and will give access to a street passing under it, to the other side of the road....
The extent of this road work, goes to Fate, TX as well, where I understand there may be a bridge built in this area of freeway......I'm not really sure about this information as yet! This exit on to the freeway, has been closed for road work....so we have to go up further to get on the highway. Just another inconvenience we are experiencing, during these months of work....I'm not sure how soon the development will be finished?
A Walmart?
Ground has finally been broken for our new Walmart to be built.
The Wal Mart sign.....
This heavy equipment, is moving right along in the mud.
It's been raining off and on for several days recently....

Old Greenville TX Slogan
Thanks to my daughter, I can post this picture of the street of Greenville, TX, back when I was a child. This slogan was also on the old water tower there, and remained for many years. How many of you remember this?
Look at the old Texaco sign, wow how many years did this signs stand?
New Governor
Today, our State inaugurated our new Governor around 11am. We wish Greg Abbott a good term in office and hope he brings about great changes for our wonderful Texas! Congrats, Governor Abbott, may you serve us well!
Brownie's Restaurant?
Who remembers the old "Brownie's Restaurant on East Grand Ave., just around the corner from Samuell's Blvd? Who went there back in the 60' & 70's? I did during late evening after going to the "Debonaire Danceland" to have fun, dance and party. I'm sure there are plenty of you out there who did the same thing.
My favorite dish was their "mexican dinner plate", with a big jalepeno and huge slice of onion on top. That food was greasy, but if you were tipsy, it was good and filling.

They Lost
It seems that once again the Cowboy's have met defeat. They proved to give us a valiant effort for this season, but some wrong procedures left them with plenty of the season's ending "what if's"! It's over for them this year, but we hope that they get back up and find the same spirit this coming year, that boosted them this year.......GO COWBOY'S!

Yes, it's still there but is now down in the middle of a bunch of skyscrapers. It's hard to see it unless you are right down town ...
