Deadly Tornadoes Hit North Texas

December 26, 2015, will be a horrible memory in many North Texas minds as we try to recover from last nights deadly tornadoes damage.  I live about 20 minutes for the site at I-30 & George Bush Turnpike, where the tornado's path crossed the freeway.  Seeing the video footage's that are coming into the news media's, is very surreal and scary.  This is something you always see happening somewhere else, and now it's come to our doorsteps.  Had the tornado taken a different path, I would have been in the middle of it and suffered what many are dealing with this morning.
Five have lost their lives in the Garland, TX area and 3 in other areas where the tornadoes hit.  I-30 has been reopened, but warnings are being issued to looters and passers by to stay away from the areas affected by this disaster.  They will be arrested or shot, and that's the exact statements.
Homes are destroyed along with lives in the aftermath of this deadly tornado.  People affected are just thankful to be alive and consider that the homes can be rebuilt.
Many pets have been lost or misplaced and this will cause sadness to many.  The hospital of Lakepointe in Rowlett, TX was at full capacity last night with injured from their local area.
Incoming pictures as of daylight show a large path taken by the tornado, which left death and destruction in the North Texas areas.
First responders were on the scene and many are still active as I speak.  The Red Cross is busy with it efforts and will be available to help those in need.  Shelter's were opened in the Rowlett areas and many people calling in to find a way that they could help.  Off duty police, fire and other responders were out in force helping as they were needed.
Now, is the time to assess the damages and start the cleanups necessary to build again.
Our hearts and prayers go out to those affected by last nights tornado's,  may they find peace and comfort during the trying times ahead.

Grand Jury Still Not Done.......

They're still not done......

106 Indicted in Biker Shootout.....

106 now taken in hand by Grand jury in Texas.....

Damn It!

The dark side of illegal immigration: Nearly one million sex crimes are committed by illegal immigrants in the United States !

Just A Few

During the year 2005, there were 8 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our southern border with as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from other terrorist countries. Over 10,000 of those were middle-eastern terrorists. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroin, crack, Guns, and marijuana crossed into the U.S.from the southern border.

Record Fair

The Texas State Fair ended on Sunday, with what the Fair officials say is a record in sales.  It was a beautiful day, and once again, we will wait for another year, and another Fair to debut.  A record 52M in sales at the ticket booths brought the profits up compared to previous years.  The weather had a lot to do with it, since in previous years there was many days of rain outs.  This year was sunny and beautiful with no rain in sight.

The People of Texas Say...........

Here are some comments I found from local citizens about the illegals......who cross our borders in search of free benefits...and citizenship of their babies!

All they want is "freebies"!!! They want EVERYTHING for nothing...rent, food, education, medical...etc. and I pay for it with my tax dollars while THEY benefit. I'm working TWO jobs and can't get ANYTHING free because I "make too much".

Ya know...they will say "this was their country to begin with". Time changes...the Alamo proved that! Borders change...respect that or u will suffer consequences! In some places, anyway.

Send them all back they don't have any rights at all they are here illegally, as well as their offspring.

Why, should we give them benefits, that we can't get?

Texas Is Doing Something

It just keeps getting worse.........finally, our State is fighting back, even though it's against the Constitution of the USA......Our borders are releasing too many illegals on us and we are having to support them. It's not fair!

Texas Says NO!

One For Bevo

The history of TX/OU football has been one of rebel rousing, for years.  The "Cotton Bowl", has hosted the game, and this year's was a blast.  TEXAS, won over OU in a game that proved to be support for the mascot Bevo, who couldn't attend because of health problems.  Bevo, is the Longhorn Steer, who TX proudly brings to their games as their mascot.
24/17 was the final score, with TX being the winner, and sending the Sooners back across the Red River, that is now orange!  Hookem' Horns!

I-30 Multi Car Wreck

This was live news footage of the wreck Tuesday night, involving several cars and two semi's.  The wreck that began around 6:60pm,  in the west bound lanes of I-30 spread to the east bound lanes, when a semi broke through the cable barrier in the median.  The wreck was located between the exits of #551 and #548 just into the edge of the Royse City, TX city limits.  One person died and several were injured as a result tying up both sides of the freeway, until well after 1am that night.  It has not been determined which vehicle caused the accident.
This area of the freeway has been under construction for several months and the uneven lanes are very narrow, making travel through this part of the freeway dangerous.

Flying Red Horse

went to Dallas, last weekend, and to my surprise I saw this big display sitting along the street.

When I looked over at the middle of downtown, I saw that the original sign was still atop the building as it had always been.  I assume this means that the plaza is owned by Mobil now?

Putting Up The Main Sign

It's hard to believe that just a year ago, this was all pasture land.  Off in the distance you see a crane, placing the main sign atop the posts along I-30, in Royse City; TX.

Here's a closer look at the new sign, and the large cranes putting it in place.  November is the projected month the new store will open.  Our town is so ready for the convenience.  I'm still waiting to see the gas pumps being installed for the USA Murphy's that's coming along with Walmart.  We won't need to drive all the way to Rockwall, TX to get decent groceries or cheaper car gas.

RANDOLPH Recognition Day

NATIONAL POW/MIA DAY..........

Here's What The People Think!

Some comments on the recent incident, where a teenager brought an object to school, which looked to be a bomb!
If you've been following the news about this incident, then you know the details.....

While it was a home made clock it was intentionally designed to look like a bomb. It was suspicious at best, and could have been an bomb. Teacher did the right thing and called police. Just because it was not a bomb, suddenly the liberals see him as a victim.

Isn't praying on school property against the law? Oh, stupid me they're Muslims - like Killary, rules don't apply to them!

its OK, they can pray on school grounds, its the muslim cult, not christians......were they Christians the SWAT people along with the national guard would have been called out and Heraldo Riveria would be wringing his hands and taking selfies..The bigger question is where in the hell are the Athiests, the Freedom From Religion nuts, and ACLU? If this was a Christain group, they would be all over it.

Ok kids, you are Americans and you need to start praying in or on school property since we pay taxes. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander. We love praying too our God who is a real and living God and he want's wants to hear from us as well.

what is the prayer for? Pray for our soldiers and their families ,not some kid who the president admires as a muslim.
The Muslims barbarians can pray their hatred on school grounds but Christians cannot.
will they stand with him when he brings a bomb to school and blows up the school? No muslims and no islam in this country.

They're praying for Idiot Americans,REMAINING, IDIOTS. They know that NO Teacher,in their right mind will ever suspect a Muslim child of having a bomb again. The NEXT time.....POOF!
Please leave our country, stop thinking you are above our laws. Someone should sue them for praying on school property, they would if it was Christians.

This President does nothing When police are murdered but when a young man makes a bomb not a clock as usual the President can not call it what the item really is not a clock. So the next time some kid comes in with a clock and no one checks it and turns out to be a bomb and kills people what will the President say at that time. This President seems to pick out things that he thinks that will make him look good and the hell with protecting the American People. God forbid if any Christians have a pray on school property everyone would be up in arms.

Hiprocits no prayer in school remember. What/s going on here . even Obama aproves this, This could have been a real bomb. don/t bring anything that resembles a gun or bomb to school period, This boy is being praised instead of repremended,

Seriously - his "parents" let him bring that "contraption in a suitcase" to school. I think this is the parents fault or were the parents just trying to start trouble. I think the latter. What are they praying for????? It looked like a bomb and since it was a "clock", I'm sure it was ticking. Wow! I stand with Irving!

Prayer vigil? I pray to God that teachers, schools, law enforcement and others will continue to make the same decision in the future that they did here. What if this had been a bomb? Would we today be mourning yet another unimagineable tragedy and trying to convince ourselves that all Muslims are not like this? Probably. I'm sorry, but we can not endanger the masses to spare someone a few hurt feelings or inconvienience. I'm still not sure what exactly made this one boy's expierience worthy of an invite to the Whitehouse. Seems like there would be countless other actual heros more deserving of that honor. But then again, considering who occupies the Whitehouse, I could see someone decling the invitation.

It's Up

Here it is, all atop it's perch waiting for the rest of the construction to finalize.  I'm wondering what will happen to the local Royse City Pharmacy, downtown on Main St., when this store opens.  Then you also have the Walmart pharmacy to counter sales in the local buying area.  Small town for so many big name drug stores.  Time will tell how well this store fares in competition.

Walmart Sign

There is the first sign to be put up, but it's not the big one which will soar over the north side of I-30 at the front entrance of the building.

As you can see the front has many of the location signs for different departments mounted on the front of the building.

I understand that Walmart is already taking applications for jobs, before the store is ready to open in November.  In the foreground you see sodded grass being watered, so I am wondering where the USA Murphy's gas pumps, will be installed?  From the looks of things, it may be on the east side of the building near the entrance on Irby Campbell Blvd.

CVS Sign

Looks as though the new CVS store is well on it's way to completion and that's another addition to our fair town.  Royse City, TX is growing and there's no getting around it.  The new Mayor has been keeping us up to date on all the coming additions to the local area.  The small town I grew up in is now a whopping upscale busy locale.  Here you see the CVS sign being readied for lifting to it's position.

Down The Drain

We have been put under a water restriction because of the drought situation, and here you see water going down the drain.  Yet, our city is getting ready to hike our water bill another $12, which would bring our base bill of $63.49, up to $75.49.  This is a hard pill to swallow considering that our town already pays much higher prices from the North Texas Water District, than many other surrounding towns.  Now, what do you think the elderly and fixed income citizens are expected to do?

Rick Perry Drops Out

Once again Rick Perry, drops out of the Presidential race.  He has had a hard time getting his campaign going and this left him with no other decision to make. The longest running Texas Governor, who made waves against certain Presidential rulings, made his way back into the race this year, but not as strong as his recent bid, when Obama won.  It's too bad that he could make a go of it, because he certainly has some good ideas, that could have been lucrative to our nation's welfare.
Hats off to his gut grit and stamina, when fighting the sides of our Texas heritages.  Thanks to one that has made a difference here in our home State.  May he find a new way to enjoy going back into the local Texas life.

Rain!

Wonderful needed rain has blessed our North Texas areas!  They said if we wanted rain to wait until Tuesday and by golly it's here.  It has been raining off and on all morning long and still rain right now at the noon hour.  Maybe the cracks will seal and some of the dry ground will be soft for a few days.  The only problem now, is another round of mowing the grass and weeds this rain will bring up!

Back to School

It's back to school day here in our big city and the kids are ready to make the big day special, with new clothes, back packs, and meeting a new teacher or teachers.  If you are a member of the school age or a parent, then you know the needs of putting a child in school.
Most of make sure your child/children know the safe ways to handle any incidents that may happen, during that year.  Safety, is a first when it comes to your child's well being and protection.
Have a great year and learn all that important information, the teacher's are giving you!

Almost Ready

As you can see the site construction office is in front of the main building.

Here we have a different view of the front and it looks as though it will be facing the south, towards Interstate 30, where new bridges are also being built.  The space here in the foreground is being excavated and I can't tell whether it's for the USA Murphy's gas pumps or another business?

WalMart Sign

Here we have the posts already in place for the big Walmart sign to be installed.  You know, it's one of those big signs you see along the interstate highways, letting you know where there's a Walmart store?  Ours is almost ready and they will be opening it in November of this year.

Cool Front

It came just like the weathermen said it would.  A cool front, bringing lower temps and some rain.  Yesterday evening around 6pm it was already 79* degrees and dropping.  This morning was welcomed with cloudy skies, showers and cool temps of 66* degrees.  At 11am it's only 68* degrees compared to the normal temps in August of mid 90's.  I can actually open the doors and windows, using only ceiling fans to circulate the air.
My fear is that the sun will come out and humidity will hit hard.  Right now, I'm enjoying the cool wetness.

Oh My, Rain!

Wow, it finally happened, the rain came.  Yesterday evening as I sat here at my computer, I heard something that sounded odd.  By odd, I mean the sun was out and the clouds in the sky were white and billowy, with no indication of a chance.  I reached over and pulled the blind on the window to the side enough to look out.  Sure enough, there was rain dripping off the roof down on to the air conditioner in front of the window.  It lasted a few seconds, stopped and a few minutes later it started again.  This time it was coming down hard, knocking leaves off the trees and kicking up the dry dust on the ground when it hit.  This lasted about 10 minutes, and then it was over as fast as it came.  During the shower, I ran out on the front porch and placed my pot plants out so they could get washed and a good drink of fresh rain.  Oh, I also did not go out and roll up my car windows!  I let it rain right in, so as not to scare the nice rain away. :)  The leather seats will dry, with the heat and wind that's blowing around here.

Nice Cool Breeze

The breeze is nice and cool this morning, as I grab my first cup of coffee.  The temp is 81* but the wind makes it much cooler, with it coming from the southeast.  Yesterday's heat was horrible and this cool air makes it much better.  I'm not sure what the rest of today will turn out to be, but as for now, it's very nice.  Someone, got rain but it wasn't us!  The cool front has indeed made a nice difference.

I Saw Clouds?

Coming back from town, I noticed clouds in the northern skies, and was impressed with the fact that they were there.  We haven't had any rain lately and to see some clouds almost gave me hope of the chance.  It's possible the forecasters say, that we could get rain at least one day this week.  I do hope it makes it down this far so we can have relief from the heat.  Even for a short while, that would be welcomed!

Too Hot

I've been trying to stay cool but the temperature outside just won't allow it.  I don't dare try and drive the car during the middle of the day, because my AC is out.  So, if I do anything it has to be early in the mornings or late evenings.  Otherwise I wait until the other car gets home and take it where I need to go since it's AC works.  On days like this it even lacks in cooling, because of how hot a car can get out in the sun.
Every other day, I have to water to keep the plants from dying.  That's really not enough to do much good, since the ground is dry and cracked open.  I wonder if the rains will start again this fall?  They usually come in around October and last through the spring months.  Maybe, next week we'll get some needed rain, since there's a chance in the forecast.

The New One

Remember that horrible day when Big Tex went up in smoke?  Well, that scene brought tears to many eyes of the native Texans.  Today, we have what you call an updated Fair Park area.  Have a look around.......
The theme this year is "Passport to Texas".

State Fair of Texas 2015

September is just around the corner and along with it comes the "State Fair of Texas" with our featured member, "BIG TEX".

We Got It

If you've ever been to the "Lone Star State" then you know how great Texas is!  You name it, and we got it!  There's never a dull moment here in our state and you can find events, rodeos, fishing, caverns, amusement parks, skyscrapers, large cities, small rural towns, and so many more things I don't have time to mention.  Oh yeah, did I mention snakes?
Right now we are in the middle of the summer months and in Texas you know what that means, especially if you've visited during that time or live here.  HOT and DRY!  All this week we are in the 100's and you can see wide cracks in the ground, where there was water all the month of May. What a difference a month makes!  The lakes picked up good levels of water, so the fishermen and boating enthusiasts are having a great summer.
If you come to Texas, be sure to enjoy some BBQ while your here.  That's just one of the good things you'll be able to have memories of, when you return to your home.  TEXAS, a great place to be.

Another Hot One

Here is the beginning of another hot day in Texas.  It's 9:30am and already 83* degrees with clear skies and the humidity 47%.  A 6 mph wind won't help much simply because of the heat.  Hot wind in your face is just as bad as a furnace.
If you look at the ground that was saturated back in May with rain, today it is cracked and dry.  The grass that hasn't been watered, is turning yellow and the leaves are starting to drop from the trees.  It's for certain that August is going to be a hot month, with this week's predictions of 100* degree temps showing throughout.  Here goes the electric bill again this month and I fear it will be higher than last month's.

A Train in Plano?

Jade Helm train spotted going through Plano, TX?

Jade Helm?

Is Texas under attack?

Too Close

This is getting too close for comfort.  Texas borders LA on it's east side and now you have some idiot going into a theater and using it as a "shooting gallery".  Our condolences go out to the people who were involved in the attack and to the State of Louisiana.

Rain

We have nothing be thanks to God for sparing us during this time of rains and flooding.  Texas, was hit hard by all the rains and it seemed it would never stop.  Today, we have had at least four days of sunshine, and we are also grateful for this.  The ground is still wet and soft, to the point of taking a week or two to dry out.  We finally got part of the yard mowed and are waiting for the rest to dry out some more so we can get the lawn mower in there.

Wal Mart Still Growing

On May 27th, a large helicopter lifted the air conditioning units to be installed.  The Mayor says that the keys will be handed to the Wal Mart manager in July and the opening will probably be in October.  So ready!

Wal Mart Coming Along

It won't be long now, until the new Wal Mart will be finished and ready for us to shop in.  No more driving all the way to Rockwall, TX or Greenville, TX to shop for decent groceries.

9 Lives Gone

Sunday, May 17, 2015, Waco, TX was in the middle of a sad happening.  Several motorcycle clubs/gangs came into town with the intentions of settling a turf war which escalated to the point of total chaos.  9 were killed, and several injured which led to many arrests.
News media has made this into a "white war" between "white motorcycle gangs", which is totally farce.  The gangs/clubs involved included white's, mexican's and a few black riders.  Not one club/gang consisted totally of "white's"!  All you need to do is read the names of the one's who were arrested in the mug shots that has been released.  You will see the names denote the ethnicity's.
One of the local biker's is known by people who worked with him in year's past.  I will not name him to give respect to his family and friend's presently!
Our condolences go out to the people affected by the disaster, in Waco, TX this last Sunday.

More Rain

It's been a full 3 weeks of rain, with very few days of sun to boast of.  They predict that we will have nice weather for the next few days.  I know all of us here in Texas is ready for some sunshine and warm weather.  Can you believe it turned cool again in the last two days?
There's one thing that's been made good and that's the level of the lakes.  We will have a good year for water, this year because of these spring storms.

Walmart

Buy Reviews

Coming on up as fast as the weather will let them.

Our new Walmart will be built soon and then no more driving all the was to Rockwall, TX to get decent food and good prices on other items.  Looks as though they have started on the structure walls, which is a plus.

You can see that it's cloudy, which has been the case for several weeks.  This year we have had record rain, and it's giving the drought ridden lakes much needed water.  The soil is so saturated with rain, that you squish when walking.  Staying on the sidewalk is your best option.

Yesterday, our local area had a tornado watch along with very bad storms.  This is right after the bad storm came through and I ran out while it was still thundering and lightning to catch this picture..

We were very lucky from what the news told of other areas.  No bad damage for us, but there were trees down, roofs torn off and heavy flooding.  We were blessed not to have this damage.  Many were without power in Fort Worth, Dallas, and Collin Counties.  Anyway, here is the picture to give us some peace.

It's Spring

Buy Reviews
It's a beautiful spring day, here in Texas as the trend goes.  There was some weather to the north of us, last night, and Moore, Okla., was once again hit by a tornado.  This is the second time and the people were starting to rebuild, what lays again in rubble.  We have cooler temps, with high winds today, but are thankful that is all we got.

Terry Dorsey

A statement issued by Mark "Hawkeye" Louis......

So sad to have to report the passing of my long time friend and cherished colleague Terry Dorsey.
It comes with deep sadness that I have to report the passing of my longtime friend and cherished colleague, Terry Dorsey. Terry retired from KSCS in December and had hoped to live out his retirement on a farm in Illinois. Last night, I received a call from his family that Terry had passed away peacefully at home. Terry had not been feeling well these past few days and it was rather sudden. Tomorrow morning we'll remember Terry and allow listeners to comment on what he meant to them. We'd like to encourage you to share this and leave comments as this would bring comfort to his family.
-Mark 'Hawkeye' Louis.
RIP Terry...........great years of listening to your voice.........!

Sleet

Yesterday brought sleet and rain to our local area.

We didn't get much in accumulation, but it was enough to close schools, and government offices.  The roads were dangerous and many wrecks occurred.  We are predicted to get snow on Wednesday evening, which could cause a few problems and give a few inches for the kids to make snowmen.

Fresh Pecans

A friend offered my to go pick up pecans in his yard.  This is a small portion of the one's that remain on the ground.  It was a good growing season in Texas this last year, for pecans.

These are not the native pecans, you see growing in local parks.  They were planted by the person who owned the property.  I have a native tree in my yard and the pecan shells are harder, and the pecan is smaller.

Progress in Royse City, TX

Looking ahead of us while taking the detour to the freeway, we can see the new bridge being developed.

As we are going down the street, we look to the right and see the excavation in full progress to build our coming Walmart and other businesses.

After standing here several years, taunting us, it finally has a real meaning.

Soon the tanks for gasoline will get installed for the "USA Murphy's"  gas stop and convenience store.  Finally some cheap gas that we won't have to drive all the way to Rockwall, TX to buy.

Me as well as the rest of the local residents are eagerly waiting for this to get build, so we can get decent groceries and other needed items at a decent price, without having to drive to other towns for these services.  It will also create new jobs for our community and give more volume to the resources of our town.

The Great Texas Showdown
