DISD Cuts Budget

Teachers and members of the community are fuming over recent decisions made by the school board trustees. Many parents are upset after the school board voted to shut down 11 campuses. The school board is still taking steps to cut down the budget. Teacher layoffs have not yet been discussed. A teacher, who wishes to remain anonymous, is using a play on words to help make a point. This teacher wants DISD teachers to call in sick on February 29 – Leap Day – to show that the DISD is taking a big leap backwards.

Rain

We received some much needed rain last week, but now we are bracing for more.  It seems the weather patterns are good for this to happen again, which will give us more water for the local lakes and streams.  Texas has been in a drought situation for some time and now we are hoping this rain will bring the lakes back up to a safe level of usage for the communities.

My Garden

This is the first of the plants I intend to plant in my vegetable garden.  We have been steadily working on it since November, and it won't be long until we will get the potatoes planted as well.  This is a first year garden for me here at this house, so I'm hoping for a good harvest.

It's Over For Perry

Rick Perry, announced that he's dropping out of the "Presidential Campaign" and returning to Texas.  It is no surprise that he has made this decision, because of his low showing in each public debate as well as the States that counted as popular places to get the higher votes.  Hats off to our Governor, and we think he will come back again later with a stronger idea of what is needed to make it through these types of situations.

Walgreens vs Express Scripts

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Negotiations by  Walgreens and Express Scripts   have fell through and they will no long work together.  Walgreens is no longer part of Express Scripts’ pharmacy provider network as of Jan. 1, 2012. Express Scripts acts as a middleman between pharmacies.  Most payers don’t see the rates Express Scripts pays to Walgreens. They only know what they pay Express Scripts. When they do see what Walgreens is paid, many health plans and employers are making decisions to continue to ensure access to Walgreens because they find the prices to be competitive and believe that they can lower overall health care costs.

An individual can join the Prescription Savings Club at Walgreens  during a special January promotion for only $5, or $10 for a family membership, and receive savings on more than 8,000 brand name and all generic medications. Walgreens did this in an effort to prevent our country’s military personnel from being caught in the middle.

Walgreens also offered to contract separately with Express Scripts for Tricare from other Express Scripts commercial business, but these offers were rejected. This company wants you to use their own mail order pharmacy business instead of your community pharmacy.  Community pharmacies are a valuable presence in your neighborhood.  You can give support to  Walgreens on Twitter  as well as  Walgreens on Facebook   because of the magnitude confusion  this situation has caused.  What better was to stay updated than to check this out on these two networks.

Perry

I hate to say it, but I do believe that Rick Perry should just step down and stop using our tax money to support his campaign for the Presidency.  He is on the bottom of the polls and hasn't got a chance in the world.  I hope he see's this situation as it is.  He flubbed up during some of the debates, and this left him very doubtful early on.

Rain

The north Texas areas, got a much needed soaking rain.  It's been raining for 2 days and there's water standing in low places out in the yard.  I planted my onions a few days ago in order to catch this rain.  Now, they will have a good start on all the other vegetables, that I intend to plant.  The 2 peach trees will enjoy this rain as well.  Hopefully there will be peaches this year.

Donald Trump?

Reports say that Trump supporters had filed paperwork in Texas to allow him run as a third-party candidate under the name of the "Make America Great Again Party." Real estate mogul Donald Trump said Monday he might run for president if the Republicans pick the "wrong candidate."

2012

The "New Year" is here and along with it comes the unpopular running of candidates for our next President of the USA.  Our governor is running and this makes him seen in public more than usual.  We know that since he's not carrying a good margin in the poles, he will not make it to the presidency.  It's possible the front runner, could ask him to be their vice-president, which would still place him in White House politics so to speak.  We as Texans wish him luck and that is certainly what he is going to need...........
